Having climbed to the highest point, dressed for ceremony, Cole could no longer bear the weight Koru had thrust upon her fragile shoulders. Day in, day out, he was there. He was always there. Looming, grinning, holding her down... She constantly made a mess of things, trying to escape, free herself from his twisted world. Each and every time, he found her, snared her and locked her away. Any other man outside his Empire who set his eyes on her ran the risk of losing them. She was his and there wasn't a thing she could say about it, though she said plenty. But for each spit of defiance she gave, his wrath would lash ten fold in every direction. Eventually, there was little point in fighting back. He'd broken her, torn down her defenses. Though leaping would be easy... abandoning Dean in his dark nightmare was not. There were things she had still, to complete...
